Food

The Shaolin Institute does not provide food in any capacity to any student. However, out of an abundance of love and friendship, our headmaster purchases and makes an abundance of (vegetarian) snacks and meals that are openly shared with students. All Summer Camp Program students are certainly welcome to partake of this food at their own risk and discretion. Nevertheless, below are some alternative recommendations:

For Day Camp students, we recommend that students pack two separate snacks (morning snack and afternoon snack) in addition to lunch. For Overnight Camp students, we recommend that students pack enough snacks and easy-to-make pre-packaged meals to last the duration of the camp, as well as budget money to purchase food outside off campus.

2022 Deru Academy Future Education Summer Day Camp

YOUTH CAMP AGE GROUP EMPHASES
For the Youth Camp, different age groups will have special topical focuses for the duration of the camp. While all students will participate in all camp activities, each student, according to their age, will also be given particular projects that will capstone their summer camp experience.

Students aged 7-11 will focus on creating their own narratives about building positive futures, utilizing the various artistic skills they will learn throughout each day. They will compose and illustrate detailed stories, and then work together with their classmates to act out their stories, being the heroes of their own narratives and their own futures.

Students aged 12-15 will focus on putting together a complete filmed production of futuristic narratives. They will engage heavily with scriptwriting, storytelling and plot development, and the “fieldwork” of developing characters that embody the spirit of shared struggle towards a positive future.

Students aged 16-17 will focus on greatly expanding their writing and networking skills to not only produce attractive, expertly-written essays for high-conscious institutions (or proposals for creating their own high-conscious, future-focused businesses), but also to connect with other academic, future-focused teens around the world. Students will actively prepare for their next stage in life: becoming conscious minded citizens of humanity.
