The Yellow Pavilion

The Classical Daoist Way to Nurturing life (Known as Huang Ting Jing in Mandarin 黄庭经)

Originally authored in the 4th century by the ancient Daoist Sage Lady Wei Huacun, this English version of the Yellow Pavilion is designed as a coffee table book. It will keep you in good company while you sip your coffee, tea, or gentle drink as you take a break from the doing-ness of life and ease your mind and body into “no action.”

This two-in-one book presents ancient poetry in Mandarin calligraphy side-by-side with contemporary English translations on facing pages. The ancient Sages’ teachings of universal humanity reveal themselves in the artistic designs woven throughout.

In Volume One, you may sense the original flavor of this 2,000- year-old Chinese meditation classic and learn some of the names and work which have travelled across time and space to us today.

Volume Two offers a few essays that provide a contemporary and more global context for understanding Lady Wei’s teachings. Western readers will find accessible explanations for nuanced ancient Chinese concepts, such as “Three Treasures,” “Dan Tian,” and “Inner Visualization.”
